“In vita mia ho vinto oltre 100 medaglie internazionali e tirato su giovani talenti. Forse Fabio ha visto questo in me: parliamo la stessa lingua”. Una lingua di lavoro e vittorie: per Dirk Lange, teutonico coach d’Amburgo alla guida di un eterogeneo gruppo di ranisti a Graz; per Fabio Scozzoli, che in Austria vuole tornare Kaiser Frosch, il Re Rana. “Il mio Dlp Project ha il massimo supporto dalle istituzioni politiche e sportive della Stiria (uno degli stati federali austriaci n.d.r.) – spiega Lange a Swimbiz – la Stiria vuole sport di alto livello, e il modello di riferimento è lo sci alpino”. Ma Dlp è anzitutto una realtà privata “E professionistica. Non è intesa come un club di nuoto – atleti di tutto il mondo rappresentano le proprie squadre – ma come supporto ad atleti e federazioni attraverso consulenze, camp, allenamenti personalizzati…”. Un master natatorio per chi voglia un valore aggiunto, inclusi i nuotatori locali “Nessuno si è mai lamentato di questa realtà internazionale, capiscono i benefici di nuotare accanto a campioni europei, mondiali e olimpici”. Come Van Der Burgh e Giulio Zorzi, che mantengono viva la connessione tra il tedesco e il Sudafrica “Una realtà simile all’Australia, ma con meno soldi. Quando diventai head coach nel 2005, il 90% dei nazionali aveva base negli Usa: oltre 100 atleti. Ma, a parte gli exploit di Roland Schoeman o l’oro olimpico 2004 della 4X100, l’impronta americana si sentiva poco – quattro anni dopo – erano attivi due centri federali, Pretoria e Cape Town, il 90% degli atleti era basato in Sudafrica e oltre 20 nuotatori di livello andarono a Pechino 2008”. Negli anni, Lange si è specializzato nella rana, stile che “Cresce anche dopo l’era dei supercostumi per l’impatto che hanno su di esso forza, dinamismo e velocità, superiore ad ogni altro stile”. E che Scozzoli, neo arrivo della casa(leggi qui), vuol tornare ad abbracciare appieno “Per ora l’obiettivo è battere più ranisti possibile nel mondo – e se si parla di podio a Kazan – né io né Fabio faremmo questo passo, se non fossimo assolutamente certi del suo potenziale. Ha un ottimo lavoro di base. Credo nel suo futuro e sono convinto ce la possa fare”.

In the hands of Dirk, to return Kaiser Frog
“I won in my life more than 100 international medals . I also created champions out of young talents. May be the reason why Fabio likes to work with me. Dirk Lange, teutonic coach born in Hamburg, who guides a heterogeneous group of breastroke swimmers in Graz; Fabio Scozzoli, who wants to return the “Kaiser Frosch”, the “King Frog” in Austria “Dlp Project has all support from local sport and political units all over the place in Styria - explains Lange to Swimbiz.it - high profile sport is wanted in Styria. But Dlp is “A private unit of professional concept, supporting athletes and federations in consulting, training camps, day-by-day- training”. A sort of “swimming master” for whom wants to an added value, local swimmers included “Nobody complains of this international unit, because it is more than clear that everybody, in specific the local athletes, could benefit from the fact that Olympic, World and European Champions are swimming next lanes”. Champions like Cameron Van Der Burgh or Giulio Zorzi, who keep alive connection between the german coach and South Africa “Swimming in South Africa is very similar to swimming in Australia but just with a lot less money. When I moved to SA in 2005, as new head coach, 90% of national squad was based in US: more than 100 swimmers. But if they had 4x100 freestyle’s glympic gold medal at Athens 2004 and great results by Roland Schoeman, on the other hand the US impact for the rest of SA swimming culture was limitated – 4 yeard later - we had 2 national trainings centre.
